It's been raining for days. Yucky. Things have been pretty blah around here in general. Nick had Friday off, for the Parish Fair Holiday. This always-odd holiday turned out to be not much fun for us. I took the kids in for flu shots, which was a guaranteed bad time. I got mine, not a whimper. Zoe got hers, she cried a little then settled down. Nick got his, but not without panic beforehand and a good fifteen minutes of crying afterward. That got Zoe going, giving us stereo screaming as I paid for the shots and walked back to the waiting room. At this point my attitude toward Nick and shots vacillates between sympathy and a profound wish that he would get over it, already. I think he does feel the shots more intensely than most people, but on top of that he's developing a phobia of needles. I am not a psychologist, and I am not qualified to deal with this. My solution is to give him warning, but not a lot of warning, give him some choices, provide physical comfort...and then hold him down and order him to cooperate or suffer the (specifically enumerated) consequences. This gets us through, but it's not what I'd call ideal.
Well, we stopped by the play yard at the mall before the doctor's visit, and ate lunch at the Burger King with the indoor playground afterward, so there was some good stuff happening there. But we went home, after, so Zoe could nap, and Nick made it clear that his arm was aching the rest of the day. He eventually announced that his stomach hurt, lay down, and fell asleep. Oh, and before then, he gave his favorite stuffed animal, Froggy, a flu shot. I'm going to take that as a good sign.
Saturday we went car shopping. I am not a fan of car shopping. It needed to be done, and other people seemed to enjoy it. More details to be given when the new vehicle is in hand, probably by the end of the month. Nothing much else happened the rest of the weekend. We didn't even get to the fair, because the weather was nasty.
On the plus side, I've decided it's time to catch up on photos. It's only been, um, about a year since I updated Flickr. So now's finally your chance to see pictures from Halloween ! Exciting! Meanwhile, I'm also making Zoe's costume for this year's Halloween. Nick wants to be the Hooded One for the second year running, so there isn't much work getting him ready.
