I see it's been a week since I've written last. I've been sick most of that week. Feeling better now, thank you; but I was dragging for a few days there. Rich is having health problems of his own. He's been having a lot of back and leg pain lately. An MRI finally revealed a pair of bulging discs along his spine. The treatment for that, short of surgery, is to get steroids injected into the discs in question. I understand this to be an unpleasant procedure. Still, better than the alternative. They only do it on Friday afternoons, and Rich wouldn't be able to drive afterwards, so I made arrangements for Nick to go to a neighbors' house after school, packed my bag full of toddler toys, and drove him in to the hospital. Then Zoe and I waited. Eventually, a nurse came out and told me that he'd had some problems but was fine now, and I could bring the car around to take him home. Rich gave me the full story later; his blood pressure had dropped dramatically after they gave him the anaesthesia. They stabilized him and he was indeed fine, but he only got one injection of steroids, not two. We get to go through the whole thing again in two weeks, won't that be fun. And in the meantime, he may or may not begin to feel better. He's been sitting or lying down all weekend. Doctor's orders, you know.
Today was Zoe's turn to be sick. She had a fever and was tired and grumpy. It's not serious, I don't think, but it meant she had to miss the latest birthday party. Yes, Nick's streak continues, as I took him to a park for a lovely party for one of the girls in his church class. Other than that, we didn't do much of anything exciting today. Well, I finally framed a cross-stitch project I finished two years ago. That was exciting for me! And I hung it on the wall and everything, so it is done and ready to be admired.
